ANSWERSHow old must I be to take the class and babysit? This is actually two separate questions. To take our class, we recommend students be a minimum of 11 years of age. Middle school, high school, child care workers, folks starting day care businesses looking for education credits, stay at home moms and students of all ages take our class. To babysit, the legal age is different in every city, which is why we recommend you ask your police depatment or child and family services department. 11 and 12 year olds tend to work as Mother's Helpers or Party Helpers, which is why we offer a chapter of our class about that. Most sitters start watching children at 13 and 14. To babysit a special needs child, some parents prefer an older teen or mother or adult. What credit cards do you accept? We accept VISA, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express. We DO NOT accept gift cards of any kind. My registration codes don't work. Your registration number should be five digits, and your verification code should be eight letters, all in lower case. Click on the "REGISTER" button, and enter them into the proper text boxes. DO NOT copy and paste them from the email we sent you - it's possible that you're copying a space or hidden character by accident and that invalidates the registration information. Type them manually into the text boxes. When you enter those correctly, you will be taken to a page where you will enter the name of the student, and the student's mailing address. After confirming that information, the student will be registered. At that time, the Registration Number becomes the User Name, and the Verification Code becomes the Password for this account. These cannot be changed. I am clicking on "Log In" and my registration number doesn't work? You must register for the class before you can begin classes. Please go to the "REGISTER" button on any page of our site and click on it. Once you register, your Registration number becomes your user name, and your Verification Code becomes your password. I am clicking on "Register" and my registration number doesn't work? If you cut and pasted the number from the email we sent you, please close your web browsing program, then re-launch it and go back to the front page, www.petsittingclass.com. Click on "REGISTER" and type the number into the top text box. Enter the Verification Code under that, and click NEXT. When I fill out the credit card information, whose name should I use? Mine or the student's? Please enter the name on the credit card, and the billing address for the card. After the class is paid for, registration information will be issued that will allow the student to register using their own name. What is my user name and password? After you register, your user name is your registration number, and your password is your verification code. You MUST REGISTER before you start the class. I paid, but I clicked past the page that had my registration info on it when I signed up. Then I didn't get an e-mail back. What happened? What do I do next? If there's a typo in the e-mail address you entered, your e-mail box is full, or our email was stopped by a spam filter at your ISP, we won't be able to send you a passcode. Please contact us here at Customer Service via e-mail at customerservice@babysittingclass.com. We ask for you to write us via e-mail so we'll have a correct address for you. Give us your first and last name, and how you signed up (credit or mail order). We'll look up your record and re-send you the information. You may also call us at our toll-free number, 800-710-7437. Help! I signed up and paid for the class and I didn't get a passcode! Usually the problem is a typo in the email address that you entered, or your email inbox is full so we can't send you your passcode, or the email address has a parental control or spam filter on it that doesn't allow mail from us. Please send an email to customerservice@babysittingclass.com. Include your phone number so we can contact you if we have a question. You may also call us at our toll-free number, 800-710-7437. What is the order of the class? Please go through chapters 1-6 in order, beginning with #1, Childcare Basics, and ending with 6, Beyond Babysitting. You must take and pass each Chapter Test in order (Chapter 1-6) to take the Final Mastery Test. You may take each test as many times as you need to pass. Do I have to look at all the chapters in one sitting? No, students can leave each chapter and come back to it whenever their schedule allows. You can go as slow or as fast as you like. What if students miss questions on the quizzes and tests? Our quizzes and Chapter Tests are stress free because if a student misses a question, they get immediate feedback about what to study. Our instructor is also available by telephone M-F from 1-5 PST to help students who have any questions about the material . Students have one year from registration to review each topic and take our tests as many times as they need to pass. There is no charge for the re-testing. How do students get their personalized certificate and business kit? We ask each student to REGISTER at the beginning. That tells us the student's name and mailing address. As soon as a student has taken the final Mastery Test and passed it, our program automatically alerts Customer Service to send them their personalized Babysitter's Certificate and Business Kit to the name and address given to us upon class registration. Students usually receive their kit within two weeks after passing their test. In the rare event that a student does not receive their kit, or there is a problem of any kind, we ask them to send an email that contains their first and last name and registration information to customerservice@babysittingclass.com. Students may also call us at our toll-free number, 800-710-7437. What browser should students use for the best experience? This class and the Babysitter's Business Kit was designed with the input of over 200 babysitters. It runs best using Internet Explorer. For best results, students will need: Internet access with a 28.8 or faster modem. Internet Explorer 5.0 and above - available FREE for download. The program will also work reasonably well in Safari or Firefox, as long as Javascripting is enabled. What is your Babysitting Encyclopedia all about? Can you give me a sample list of topics you cover? Yes! From A-Z, our online Babysitting Encyclopedia is all about hands on situations that a Babysitter may face. In each article, a babysitter describes the topic and gives suggestions about what to do to handle that situation. Your pass to the class gives you access to the encyclopedia and our Live Help for a year from your date of registration. We add new articles all the time. Topics include useful articles such as Bathing a Baby, Dealing with Diarrhea, Gun Safety for Babysitters, and Handling Tantrums. You can see a sample article HERE. My yearly pass is ending.
